I’m really enjoying these low key just off the fast food mark type of restaurants this summer… Franco’s, Flat Iron, Meat Liquor… Chicken Shop’s been the latest find.
Word on the street is that this place is similar to Nandos just less of the peri peri. There are 6 Chicken Shops in London, we went to the Balham one.
Midweek around 8:30pm this place was heaving.
They offer 2 types of chicken: Hot or Smokey and you can get a quarter, half or a whole. Sides include fries, slaw, corn or salad. We literally just ordered it all and a carafe of wine. Sorted.
All chickens are free range from a Norfolk farm. Marinated over night, steamed and rotisserie cooked over charcoal. Or so they say…! So relatively healthy and perfect for a mid weeker.
Simple menu, reasonable pricing, no frills, fab spot for a group dinner after a few at the pub nextdoor! + Part of the Soho House Group which I’ve just found out from googling, along with DirtyBurger & Pizza East – which are now up next on my list of places to eat!
